Established in 2012, Sarah O’Dea and her dedicated team make eclectic shades with an off-beat edge by combining trend driven fabrics with playfully proportioned frames and directional design. Specialists in mid-century modern and traditional hand-stitched lampshades, we endeavour to create meaningful and enduring pieces to be cherished for years to come.
Following a background in Interior Styling, Sarah trained under two of the UK’s Master Lampshade Makers, expanding her knowledge and expertise into this field of interiors and with a focus on distinctive lighting Shady and the Lamp was born. Located in Dublin 8, our design studio allows customers to view current collections and collaborate with our team to create bespoke lamps.
We release our own signature lighting collections throughout the year and like to source as much as we can locally and sustainably; working closely with Irish businesses and crafts people including textile designers, metal workers and wood turners.
We also offer a lampshade restoration and refurbishment service. If your lampshade is in need of some TLC please get in touch. We’ve been known to work miracles!
Now in our thirteenth year of trading, Shady and the Lamp continues to work on a wide range of projects from creating original pieces for the home to collaborating on commercial projects with leading national and international interior designers, stylists and architects.
We take great pride in the quality of our work which is why every piece is made by hand in our Dublin based studio.
